Westminster Conference and Events Students Win Young Achievers Award 2010
14 June 2010
The “Dragons’ Den’-style competition was organised by the UK & Ireland Chapter of MPI which is a global association for professionals employed in the meetings industry, in conjunction with the Switzerland Convention and Incentive Bureau. In front of a panel of experts from leading UK events agencies, corporates, and MPI and SCIB members, teams of UK-based students presented their proposals for an incentive trip to Switzerland for 100 participants, based on a brief given to them one week in advance of the competition.
The performance of the Westminster postgraduate students – Lisa Anderberg, Sola Williams and Angela Giudici - was exceptional, earning them the top prize, a luxury long weekend trip to Switzerland. The other Westminster team, drawn from the BA Tourism programmes - Jarmila Galikova, Barbora Miskovska and Anna-Felicitas Schroeder- also acquitted themselves admirably, receiving heaps of praise from the panel. Their commercial awareness and creativity earned them a special mention from the judges.
Rob Davidson, Course Leader for the MA Conference and Events Management congratulated the students on their outstanding performance, saying that their success in this competition underlines the University of Westminster’s contribution to educating the events professionals of tomorrow.
