Talk Safe

13 May 2010

Westminster University BA (Hons) Animation student Dimitar Petrov has produced the winning animation to launch “Talk Safe”, a new support forum for young people set up by the Terrence Higgins Trust.

Sir Nick Partidge, Chief Executive Officer of the Terrence Higgins Trust, awarded Dimitar a small prize and also a weeks work experience at both top digital agency Global Beach and respected Design agency Felton Communications.

Dimitar's winning entry fought off stiff competition from five other finalists - the standard was very high but the judges felt Dimitars animation fulfilled the brief, which was to sum up what the Talksafe project was about in a minute or less, and at the same time carry a positive message which fitted with THT as an organisation.

Talksafe is is a safezone online site where young people can find answers to areas on growing up, bullying, sexuality - generally issues that affect young people and is aimed at Londoners between 10 and 18. The site also gives them the chance to talk to a mentor or counsellors, who are young people who've been trained to help their peers.
