Grads cited as future stars by Wallpaper* magazine

20 January 2010

Two Westminster graduates have been listed in the influential Wallpaper* magazine’s annual global graduate directory.

Described by Wallpaper* as the “pick of the next wave of creative talents who are shaking up the world around you”, Westminster grads Joanna Cheung and Carole Suety were among graduates included in the world-wide directory.

Illustrator Joanna Cheung, 22, graduated in 2009 from Westminster with a BA Illustration. She sums up her work as “whimsical collages made from interesting bits of paper and my sticker collection”.

“I was always going to do animation or fashion,” she said. “It was only when I was studying for my foundation degree that I discovered illustration. From there I found my own style and medium, which is collage and mixed media.”

Photographer Carole Suety graduated with a BA in Photographic Arts in 2009.

She said: “I am deeply influenced by surrealist aesthetics, in which cultural and natural order interlace with one another. I aim to create pieces that open new fictional places where the boundaries between dream and reality are blurred.”

Wallpaper* is an internationally regarded magazine which covers travel, design, art, fashion, entertainment and media.
