About Transcultural Visions

The Francophone Studies Research Group has edited and published a bi-annual academic journal, the Bulletin of Francophone Africa since April 1992. This research publication was relaunched on Thursday 7 February 2013 with the support of the Cultural Service of the French Embassy.

Relaunch of the bulletin of Francophone Africa under the new title Transcultural Visions; First issue released in winter 2012

The Bulletin of Francophone Africa was first launched in 1992 and celebrated its 10th anniversary at the French Institute in 2002. It aimed to give a voice to research on the Francophone world in general, more specifically the Maghreb and Sub-Saharan Francophone Africa. Papers could be published in either French or English and focused on either literary or socio-political topics, all of which was reflected in the composition of the peer review body. The bulletin was edited and produced by the University of Westminster.

In the 1990s, journals whose remit included the study of the Maghreb and Sub-Saharan Africa were still relatively few. Since then, however, the range of publications has widened considerably and it has seemed appropriate to give the publication a new title, Transcultural Visions, and with it an enhanced brief. Submitted papers will continue to be peer-reviewed and published in either French or English.
