"Which Future for Social Democracy?" will be a discussion between Belgian Socialist Paul Magnette and Labour the Shadow Chancellor, John McDonnell, introduced and moderated by Professor Chantal Mouffe.
While social democracy is in decline in many countries, in the UK, under the Labour leadership of Jeremy Corbyn, it is experiencing a remarkable resurgence. This debate will explore the possible futures of social democracy. The debate is hosted by Professor Chantal Mouffe and is followed by a wine reception.
Paul Magnette from the Belgium Socialist Party is Mayor of Charleroi and former Prime Minister of Wallonia.
John McDonnell from the British Labour Party is Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequers.
Chantal Mouffe is Professor of Political Theory at the Centre for the Study of Democracy at the University of Westminster.
