PASS (Passing Assessment Student Support) week is a series of workshops to help you prepare for exams, re-sits and dissertations. The workshops cover areas such as:
- memory and revision techniques
- exam questions
- managing stress
- dissertation research and writing
The sessions are delivered by Academic Liaison and Learning Development, Disability Learning Support, Counselling, and Faith and Spirituality. The workshops are open to all students.

Memory and Exam Revision Techniques
Workshop on memorisation to help you remember in exams. Emphasis is given to strategies for retaining information such as association, mind-mapping, mnemonics, and active revision strategies. The workshop also discusses learning styles (aural, visual, read/ write, kinaesthetic...) and gives tips on exam strategies and coping with memory blocks.

Strengthening Your Confidence, Mindfully
This session focuses on dealing with causes of stress, anxiety, fear and loss of confidence, mindfully with compassion. The session will also focus on the inner critic, which can sometimes create doubts about one's confidence and motivation. The session will introduce you to simple meditative techniques that will set you on your way to improving confidence.

Tackling Essay Questions in Exams
This workshop prepares you to answer essay-type questions in exams by reviewing: analysis of the exam question, planning and structuring an answer, devising an argument, the use of evidence and critical analysis. It also gives tips on coping with exams and writing effectively.

Mind Mapping is a simple, practical tool for improving your creative-thinking, planning and problem-solving. It will help you generate more ideas, make new connections, improve your memory and use your whole brain.

LEGO Serious Play and Revision
This session focuses on developing students’ ability to analyse and reflect on their revision process. Students use Lego to build visual reminders of different significant aspects of revision and convey meaning into visible and tangible objects. You don’t need to be a Master Builder to attend!

Time – and Attention – Management
Are you easily distracted when revising? Would you like to be more productive during the revision period? This workshop will help you improve your revision by providing tips on organising your materials, breaking down tasks, identifying SMART objectives and allocating time in order to fulfil your goals. It will also provide some techniques to help you stay focused and maintain your attention whilst studying for exams.

This session deals with how to cite your sources and create a bibliography in the Westminster Harvard style.
