Applying through Clearing

Clearing is an ideal way to find a place at University if you haven’t yet secured a place or would like to change to another course. Clearing opens on 1 July each year and closes in September.

Clearing is open now. Visit our Clearing pages.

What is Clearing?

Clearing is part of the UCAS application process which helps students who have not yet secured a university place to find and apply for a course.

You might need to use Clearing if:

  • you've changed your mind since first choosing your firm and insurance choices on UCAS
  • you aren’t holding any offers when you get your results
  • you’ve started the university application process later than the 30 June 2017

If you would like to secure a place at Westminster through Clearing then you will be able to find our contact details here from the beginning of June.

Where do I start?

  • Do some research.
  • Think about the courses that you would like to study. View our courses.
  • Contact us if you have any questions.
  • Come and visit us at one of our Open Days

In June we will start to publish our vacancy listings for courses in Clearing and we will also have our dedicated Clearing contact details available on this webpage.

Do I need to have my results before I can apply through Clearing?

You will have to have all your results before we can make you an offer of a place through Clearing.

If you don’t yet have your results, you can contact us our clearing service and ask us any questions about our courses or register your interest in a place through Clearing in June, July and early August. Further information on how to register with us will be available on this webpage from June.

We can only make unconditional offers through UCAS if you apply through the Clearing process. If you would like to apply before Clearing opens then please consider using UCAS Extra or making a UCAS application before 30 June.

Getting an offer

Once you have your results, we can consider you for a place. For our courses in architecture, engineering, complementary medicine, property and construction as well as media, art and design you might need to send a portfolio of work or attend an interview.

For the majority of applicants to the rest of our courses, we will look at the qualifications that you have obtained so far.

If we can offer you a place through Clearing then we will send you a Clearing offer email. Please make sure you check your junk mail folder in case it ends up in there and add @westminster.ac.uk to your safe senders list. This offer will not appear on UCAS Track.

Once you have an offer

Firstly, congratulations! Secondly, you will need to add your offer as your Clearing choice on UCAS Track. Make sure you have read your Clearing offer email carefully as it includes instructions on how to accept your offer and a deadline to add it to Track on the UCAS website

Need more time?

Let us know if you need more time to decide on your offer or if you need further information from us in order to help you make your decision. We will happily extend your offer and issue you with a new deadline if we think we still have vacancies on the course you are interested in.

After you’ve added us on Track

The University needs to confirm to UCAS that we will accept you through Clearing. This usually takes one working day. Once we’ve confirmed your place it will show on UCAS Track and we will send you a confirmation email.

We’re looking forward to seeing you!

Check out our enrolment and orientation pages to find out about your orientation and welcome week programme and to complete pre-enrolment.
