Event Management is a specialised events management course for professionals who are involved in planning, organising and managing strategic events for up to 500 people, on behalf of their employer.
We teach you how to plan, design, organise and manage a variety of corporate events, giving you confidence to deliver meetings, team-building events, conferences, award ceremonies and dinners that meet your organisation's own strategic goals and objectives, and deliver value for money.
The course is delivered at our central London Cavendish Campus in the heart of the West End. We're surrounded by leading event industry suppliers, giving us opportunities to enhance your learning with site visits to venues to experience them from the event buyer's perspective.
Our events management courses are delivered by event-industry professionals who are still active in the event industry and who have substantial teaching experience at the University of Westminster. We have offered successful event courses for many years and are proud to have educated hundreds of event professionals now working in London, the UK and around the world.
Who is this course for?
Our events management short course specialises in the type of events that often are the responsibility of professionals with broader roles such as PAs, EAs and administration professionals.
The course is designed for participants with no formal event-management qualifications who need practical knowledge to design, create and produce inspiring strategic corporate events as part of their wider work responsibilities. It is suitable for both complete novices to events and those who wish to enhance their existing knowledge and practice.

By the end of the course you will be able to:
- initiate, budget and plan resource needs for corporate events that match your organisation's objectives and values
- produce engaging event content
- design staging and event collateral
- understand key aspects of event production including site logistics, risk management, derig, evaluation and reporting
- produce effective briefs for production companies
The course is designed to allow you to apply your newly gained knowledge as soon as possible. It gives you the confidence to start planning and designing inspiring corporate events straight away.
Our courses are delivered by event industry professionals who are still active in the event industry and who have substantial teaching experience at the University of Westminster. They understand the latest developments, trends and opportunities within the corporate event sector and draw on their wealth of experience to inform their teaching.
Lindsey Hanford is a part-time Senior Lecturer in events management at the University of Westminster. She has extensive experience in designing, planning and staging a range of events including seminars, conferences, exhibitions, award nights, product launches and corporate hospitality. Following her early career as Group Event Director at EMAP (now i2i) she has, for the past 12 years, worked freelance for a number of corporate clients including Single Market Events and Gordon Ramsay Holdings. As Operations Director for Holden Media she is responsible for the award-winning Buy Art Fair at the iconic Granada Studios in Manchester.
Rachel Ley is a part-time Visiting Lecturer in event management at the University of Westminster. She also runs her own conference and event management agency that specialises in conferences, incentive programmes, indoor and outdoor events, celebrations, parties and award dinners. She is a board member of the Event and Visual Communications Association (EVCOM) and leads its Professional Development Committee.
James Morgan has been marketing and producing events since 1989. He is the Founder of Event Tech Lab, a partnership community for event technology start-ups, developers, event professionals and investors. He is also the Chair of the International Special Events Society for the EMEA region and a Senior Lecturer in tourism and events at the University of Westminster. As a respected speaker and industry commentator, James has judged industry awards internationally and is passionate about educating the event professionals of the future. He takes an avid interest in promoting quality standards and professionalism in the events industry. James has a PhD in cultural regeneration and is a Certified Special Events Professional.
You will receive a certificate of attendance and 6 CPD hours for each day completed.
