This research theme focuses on the realm of the social as collective spaces, relationships and communication. It encompasses a particular centring of power and justice.
Everyday experiences of commonality and belonging are explored, as well as the meanings, beliefs and communications of particular social groups and institutions.
Research ranges from empirically grounded exploration of lived experience to the theoretical dimensions of race, class and inequality.
Topics currently being researched include ethnicity, religious identity, race in popular culture, mobilities, childhood and family, leisure media and social activism.
