Centre for Resilience
What is resilience?
"With a rising interest in neuroscience, we have an opportunity, which we must not squander, to sophisticate our understanding of ourselves." Iain McGilchrist, in The Master and his Emissary
Society’s concerns about individual stress and communal breakdown are running high, yet certain people and communities are clearly more resilient than others. Why should this be, and what do human beings need in order to flourish? Though the puzzle has many levels, it is now crucially important to find answers to these questions.
Resilience can be supported or weakened at every level of scale - from the genome to the ozone layer. Westminster Centre for Resilience is a cross-University collaboration aimed at fostering resilience initiatives and integrating research and practice University-wide.
