TV and multimedia

Our media and journalism students work in a broadcast quality television studio you can hire too. The television facilities at the University of Westminster are amongst the best of any university in the country.

The studio is equipped with four widescreen cameras (three with script monitors), workshop and storage facilities. The 1,800 sq ft, double height studio is ideal for large scale performance. Separate audio and video galleries have recently been updated, offering 48 channel digital audio, 64 channel lighting control and a top-of-the-range multicamera, greenscreen Tricaster – offering unlimited studio backgrounds.

Our all-digital radio suite was recently re-furbished; it’s equipped with Logitech desks that all have access to Burli news wires and connections to outside phone lines. The studios are used by the University of Westminster’s award-winning Smoke Radio, running off the Myriad playout system. The studios are connected to a fourth studio in London's West End for contributors and we have a mobile TieLine unit for bringing in reporters feeds while on the road.

The newsroom contains a suite of Apple iMacs with all the industry-expected software – Office, Photoshop, inDesign, Final Cut Pro, Flash and more.
