Energy

The University promotes energy efficiency across the campus in a variety of ways. Energy consumption is continually assessed and evaluated by the Estates & Facilities Team through reporting mechanisms and campaigns.

The University’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions is outlined in our new Carbon Management Plan and reaffirmed in our Energy Action Plan. We have a target to reduce our carbon footprint from buildings by 43% by 2020. We are achieving this through a variety of ways from designing more efficient buildings through BREEAM to engaging people on how best to use them through projects such as Student Switch Off.

Performance

The University’s activities and performance have a direct impact on climate change, through emissions from University facilities, and indirectly, through both emissions associated with its demand for goods and services and through the disposal of wastes.
