The University of Westminster is a Fairtrade University with an increasing number of Fairtrade products for sale. We believe that by investing in these products, we can help producers and farmers in developing countries to get a better deal, and improve their social and financial development. Read our latest Fairtrade Action Plan.
The University is also engaging student societies and working closely with its contractors to promote the use of other Fairtrade products such as:
- Fairtrade cotton for uniforms
- Fairtrade footwear and fashion
- Fairtrade balls
Additionally, we regularly share news and updates on what is new with Fairtrade within and outside the university through our Sustainability Blog.
This year’s Fairtrade Fortnight took place from the 27th of February to the 12th of March. The university celebrated Fairtrade from the 6th to the 10th of March with a chocolate making workshop, a pancake giveaway, a film screening and a tea party. Beyond Fairtrade Fortnight we promote Fairtrade throughout the year with events such as another tea party for National Tea Day and a curry class with Fairtrade spices.
