My role

As University Secretary and Chief Operating Officer I work closely with the Court of Governors, President and Vice-Chancellor, and the senior team in leading the University, championing the vision and driving the strategic direction and management of the University.

I have responsibility for the leadership of all University Professional Services and for their effective and efficient operation, resourcing, strategic direction and overall success.

I initially joined the University in October 2017 as Interim Chief Operating Officer and am delighted to have been appointed to the permanent role and to continue to contribute to the success of the University.

I am a Chartered Accountant and have a BA degree in History and Philosophy and an MA Degree in History from University College Dublin. My role immediately prior to joining Westminster was Chief Operating Officer at Cardiff Metropolitan University. I have held a number of senior level posts within higher education and in agencies in the sector including Director of Resources at the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS), and Director of Finance at the Intellectual Property Office.

External roles

I have served on a range of Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) and Association of Heads of University Administration (AHUA) working groups.

I have completed the AHUA New Registrars and COOs programme and also the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education Top Management Programme and am an active contributor to learning sets for both programmes.

I have undertaken a range of non-executive roles within the Housing and Further Education sectors. These have included chairing several Audit Committees.

I have also undertaken an international consultancy assignment at the University of Hong Kong.
