About me

Rick Schumaker is the Assistant Project Director for the Idaho Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) at the University of Idaho, US. For the past 15 years, Rick has been involved in designing, managing, and implementing many aspects of large multi-million dollar, multi-institutional academic Research Infrastructure Improvement (RII) awards funded by the US National Science Foundation and the State of Idaho to strengthen science and engineering research and education. He joined the University of Idaho in 1999 as a Science and Engineering Proposal Writer following four years of work as a Watershed Specialist for a natural resource conservation district. He holds master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota and in environmental science from Washington State University (WSU), and a Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, also from WSU.


Rick's research interests are related to approaches for the evaluation of large-scale academic research and research infrastructure investments resulting from policy interventions in complex social settings.
