Sharon Mire joined the University of Westminster in 2002 as a visiting lecturer and is now a permanent lecturer in marketing, combining three days a week at the University with other work including consultancy, largely in fast moving consumer goods marketing, plus delivering specialist postgraduate marketing courses for the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Known as a 'scholar practitioner', Sharon began her career with the company Quaker Oats where she eventually became Marketing Manager for a number of brands including the breakfast cereal Sugar Puffs. Sharon's claim to fame was the decision (back in 1976!) to develop and launch the iconic Honey Monster onto the UK advertising scene. From a successful career in fast moving consumer goods marketing, Sharon took a change in direction into academia when her children were small, teaching marketing and advertising in a variety of institutions.
Sharon teaches a range of modules on the undergraduate programme at the Marylebone site. These include Marketing Communications, Advertising, Direct and Digital Marketing, Marketing Research, Marketing Management, Brand Management.
Sharon supervises student dissertation research in marketing at undergraduate level.
