About me

Derek Lavery was admitted as a solicitor in 1991, Derek worked full time in private practice until 1998. Since qualifying, Derek's principal area of practice has been civil litigation. He initially specialised in landlord and tenant litigation when working at a firm in Camden. Later, having moved to a practice in Grays Inn, where he became a partner, Derek developed his practise in general commercial litigation, personal injury and employment law. 

He joined the Westminster University Law School as a Senior Lecturer in September 1998 and is now the subject leader for Civil Litigation and the Commercial Litigation elective on the LPC course. In 2002, Derek became the Course leader of the part-time Graduate Diploma in Law, and he teaches the Contract Law on the GDL course. 

Derek was appointed an LPC external examiner by the Law Society in 2003.
