I joined the University as a visiting lecturer of Chinese in 1989, and became a full-time lecturer in 1999. In 2003, I was appointed as the Head of the Chinese Section of the Modern Languages Department and was transferred as the Coordinator of the Chinese in Polylang in 2007.

I have been teaching Chinese language from beginners up to advanced levels since 1989 at the university. I also taught English-Chinese Translation and Business Chinese.

I'm the academic adviser of the Chinese Language Textbook "Discover China - Student Book & Work Book" and the author of "Discover China - Teachers Book", published by Macmillan Publishers www.mydiscoverchina.com

My research interest is on cognitive linguistics. My research paper of "Cognitive Chinese Grammar Teaching" was published in the Paper Collection 2012 of the British Chinese Teaching and Learning Society by Sinolingua London Limited. ISBN978-1-907838-32-3.
