About me

Matt has an LLB in Law from University of Kent and an LLM in Law and Political Justice from Birkbeck, University of London. He returned to Kent to complete his PhD in Law. He joined Westminster in April 2020, after six years as a lecturer in Land Law at The Open University.

His research interests include examining the relationship between memory, time, and legal identity. His work addresses how matters of belonging, civic & legal consciousness, and social justice can be understood through, and contested in, memory. He is similarly interested in the sources people draw upon in their comprehension of fairness and legitimacy, particularly in the context of property disputes.
