About me

Dr. Menshawy obtained his PhD from the University of Westminster in 2016, and the thesis explores the dialectic of discourse and politics in the Middle East. He conducted his MA in the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), the University of London. He has also worked as an assistant scholar for the London School of Economics (LSE), and a researcher for a number of institutions including the European Commission. He worked as a journalist for a number of international outlets such as the BBC for which he was a field reporter in the 'Arab Spring' countries such as Egypt and Libya. Awarded granted include the Chevening Scholarship and the Lorenzo Natali Prize. Dr. Menshawy also works as a consultant for a number of international organisations. His areas of interest are the Middle East, discourse, war studies and political Islam.
