I am a Senior Lecturer in the Westminster Law School at the University of Westminster and have more than 20 years teaching and research supervision experience. I am Course Leader of the LLM in Entertainment Law (since 2008) and a member of the Centre for Law, Society and Popular Culture
I hold degrees from the University of Manchester (LLB), University College London (LLM with Distinction), and passed the Law Society Finals at Manchester Metropolitan University. I am a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales (admitted 1985). I was in professional legal practice for eight years (including training contract) with a primary specialisation in general commercial and business areas, using a full range of legal skills on behalf of individual and commercial clients. I was fully involved in financial planning, general management and direct staff supervision as a partner.
I have taught on undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional (GDL and LPC) courses offered by Westminster Law School, including professional legal skills, legal professional issues and English Legal System. I support LLM and LLB students as a Personal Academic Tutor and dissertation supervisor.
As a University Learning, Teaching and Quality representative, I have been regularly involved over many years as a panel member in internal quality assurance of many university courses across a wide range of disciplines.
My current teaching includes:
Masters (LLM): I am module leader for and teach Intellectual Property in the Entertainment Business and Merchandising in the Entertainment Business and contribute to Law of Digital Entertainment and Social Media. I am also module leader for the LLM Dissertation module and act as supervisor for a number of Masters Dissertation every year.
Undergraduate LLB, I am module leader for Intellectual Property (Level 6) and also module leader for the core European Union Law module (level 5). I contribute elements to other modules such as Sport and the Law (level 5). I supervise or tutor students involved with Legal Skills and Process 1 (level 4) and Legal Profession and Legal Services (level 5) modules. I supervise undergraduate dissertations (level 6) in my areas of interest and expertise.
My main interests cover areas involved with Intellectual Property Law or Merchandising eg sponsorship, related to the entertainment business in particular or general commercial law.
I have supervised a large number of masters and undergraduate dissertations over many years some of which have led to student publications.
I have advised on PhD proposals and was a member of the PhD supervision team for Mr Danilo Mandic Copyright and Technology: Hearing the Dissonance (Second Supervisor) 2011—2015 (Graduated).
I have also advised a number of Academic Law Publishers by reviewing and commenting on proposals and draft chapters for scholarly works or on existing published books in readiness for new editions in Intellectual Property Law and European Union Law.
