Postgraduate and MBA international mentoring
Could you offer as little as three hours a year of your time to make a difference to a student’s understanding of UK working practices?
Westminster Business School's fresh approach to business education is marked by flexibility and diversity. Over 400 students take our postgraduate degrees each year – approximately 75% are international students.
Our international mentoring programme aims to support international postgraduate and MBA students in the development of their personal and career plans, matching them with a senior professional in their field of expertise or interest. In short, it provides students with a learning experience that combines their taught theory with everyday practices of working in business.
Our mentoring programme has the following benefits:
- you will be able to encourage and advise one of our international students to tackle the transition from living overseas to studying, and possibly working, in London
- direct contact with a bright individual from a different culture provides an alternative perspective and a potentially valuable contact
- being a mentor is seen as a useful addition to a CV, as it provides evidence of listening, coaching, and advising skills

What our mentors and mentees say
“As much as we are keen to offer our expertise and advise based on our previous experience, we actually get to learn a lot from the mentees and while trying to know them better we get to know ourselves better as well.
"It is nice to see young people willing to develop, learn and ask for help when they know they need it. It [was] a great opportunity to understand the young generations, particularly of interest for me, as we are working with students in my company and it is crucial we keep up to date with how things go nowadays - especially for international postgrad students.”
Mihaela Draghici, Product Manager, QS Partners Network, 2014 & 15 programme
“Over the years, I have found that international students are very polite, pleasant and enthusiastic. They are keen to interact and to become familiar with life in the UK. I enjoy being part of the mentoring programme and I am happy that together we can offer friendship, guidance and positive thinking”
Constantine Louis, Professional Mentor, 2014 programme
