Based in the centre of London, History, Sociology and Criminology enjoys a lively and dynamic metropolitan and international research culture. Established academics and many early career researchers in the three subject areas of criminology, history and sociology are actively engaged in original and policy-relevant research.

  • prison reform and convict studies
  • the urban history and urban sociology of contemporary London
  • national and international, street-based and virtual, manifestations of protest and social action

We are growing our number of postgraduate students and developing a powerful focus on social policy across the department.
