WHY DID YOU CHOOSE WESTMINSTER BUSINESS SCHOOL FOR YOUR STUDIES?
I chose Westminster Business School because of its reputation of being an internationally recognised university, for providing a well structured course combining marketing and communications, and for its central London location.
HOW HAS YOUR CAREER DEVELOPED SINCE GRADUATING?
My career started at a PR agency in Covent Garden and I found it inspiring to be using my new skills during my work with their international clients. I later climbed the ladder at a global PR firm and expanded my knowledge with key clients. The next step was an in-house role as Corporate Communications Manager for a technology company in Canary Wharf. My entrepreneurial energy started to bubble up and I founded Business e via Italy, with the goal to be the best and most comprehensive online information source for and about Italian business.
WHAT DOES YOUR CURRENT ROLE INVOLVE?
Today, we have offices in London and Milan. Business e via Italy (BEV) is an online business service designed to help anyone set up in Italy, enter the Italian market or find a business for sale. BEV also helps Italian companies reach international trading partners. My current role involves everything from liaising with partners and clients to arranging events.
WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY FOR YOU?
Being a runner, I tend to get an early start and go over the day’s plans whilst out running. On my way to the office I will be checking/replying to emails and placing some calls. Once at the office, my day continues with meeting and conference calls. I am always working on ‘London tempo’, but with an Italian lifestyle.
HAVE YOU ENCOUNTERED ANY CHALLENGES ALONG THE WAY AND IF SO, HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
To date I have managed to overcome all the challenges I have been faced with. The key to this is willpower and not letting anybody put you down, but seeing it as an opportunity to succeed.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR STUDENTS AND FELLOW GRADUATES?
Start to build up your network early and collect and nurture those contacts. Mingle and find your opportunities; they will not come your way without action.
HOW SUPPORTIVE DID YOU FIND WBS?
WBS has been very helpful and the Alumni Association is a great way to keep in contact with my friends.
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR YOUR CAREER IN THE FUTURE?
To expand current operations and continue to our growth: we are currently at 3.3 million visitors and 28,000 registered companies.
