Kirit Patel

Chief Executive Officer, Day Lewis Group Plc

Since completing his MBA at Westminster in 1988, Kirit has become one of the UK's most successful self-made Asian businessmen, and has received a string of entrepreneur and business awards.

Kirit Patel has combined his skills and training in pharmacy with his passion and knowledge of business to build the largest independently owned pharmacy chain in Europe.

After qualifying as a pharmacist in 1974, Kirit bought his first two shops on the same day the following year. Day Lewis plc has since grown to more than 200 pharmacies across the UK, and the company was ranked in The Sunday Times 'Top Track 250' list of 2011.

He has been a leading figure in the professional pharmaceutical bodies, including chairman of the National Pharmaceutical Society (1999- 2000); Kirit was awarded fellowship of the Royal Pharmaceutical Association in 2002, and was made a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management the same year. His expertise in business and pharmacy led to his appointment on specialist advisory boards by both the Secretary of State for Trade & Industry and the Cabinet Office, and his contribution to pharmacy and public service was recognised in 2005 when Kirit was awarded the MBE.
