Charlie Clayton

Programme Director, NBCUniversal

"Don't expect the MBA to give you the keys to the executive boardroom or to get into that special 'club'. It doesn't work that way... but it will earn you respect with your colleagues in the workplace and the ability to talk the same language as other senior executives at a strategic level."

With a proven ability to lead and manage business, IT and organisational change, Charlie worked as an independent contractor in project management for more than 12 years. International clients have included Lloyds, Shell, GSK, Pearson and Fujitsu.

As Senior Project Analyst he successfully controlled a multi-million, multi-disciplinary programme for the Royal Mail, and worked on the largest British American Tobacco (BAT) project ever (circa £1bn), supporting the contracting and due diligence work streams at a global scale. With a degree in Social Studies, Charlie decided to study Westminster Business School's Executive MBA, graduating in 2011; he described studying while working full-time as "the hardest thing I have ever done", but very rewarding. After graduating he returned to BAT as PMO Manager, and then went on to support Sharp Electronics as European Transition and PMO Manager on a £30m finance transformation and outsourcing project.
