Students with prior qualifications (ELQ)
In certain circumstances students with prior qualifications (ELQ's) will not attract public funding (HEFCE), following instruction from the Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills.
An ELQ is a qualification equivalent to or lower than a qualification that a student has already achieved. Further guidance is available from the admissions offices.
Fees for full-time, undergraduate, home/EU students (2009/10 entrants) will be increased to 6,000 pa: the fees for those students will be maintained at that level - in real terms - for the duration of the course.
There will be no increase in fees on account of the ELQ policy for part-time undergraduate students or for full or part-time postgraduates for 2009/10 only.
These policies only apply to students who enter in 2009/10; those who defer their entry to the following year will be treated the same way as other students who enrol that year.
This policy does not aply to the Foundation Year, but students starting a Foundation course in 2009/10 will be liable for the higher ELQ fee in the future years of their course.
