What is enrolment?

What is the difference between pre-enrolment and enrolment?

New students enrolling online are pre-enrolling. Pre-enrolment allows new students to input their personal details online; attendance at an enrolment session is then required before you will be able to become fully enrolled.

Continuing students are enrolling online. Online enrolment allows continuing students to re-check the details the University holds on the student records system, after the details are checked you will then become fully enrolled.

Enrolment is the process through which you:

  • agree to be a student member of the University for the whole or part of an academic year
  • confirm your agreement to abide by the University's regulations and to become liable for fee payment
  • check and update personal information held by the University on your student record
  • confirm that you consent to the University's Data Protection Statement on page 11 of Essential Westminster.

By pre-enrolling or enrolling online before you arrive at the University, the process of receiving your student loan and/or grant will be smoother, as the University will be able to confirm your attendance to the Student Loans Company electronically.

If you are in receipt of a maintenance grant, you do not need to take any further action in order to receive your bursary. Continuing students should note that consent to share your information with your University is assumed from this year, unless you specifically opt out, so you do not need to tick any boxes. Therefore if you are eligible and wish to receive the bursary, DO NOT tick the boxes on Section 8 (PR1 form) or Section 10 (PN1 form).

You will also be able to apply online for the 18+ Student Oyster photocard as soon as you have pre-enrolled or enrolled.

You must complete pre-enrolment or enrolment, as failure to do so may result in you losing your place. If you are experiencing any problems, contact your Admissions Office (new students) or your School Registry Office (continuing students).
