New undergraduates

Before you arrive

There are a few things you can do before leaving home to make your enrolment and your orientation and welcome week go smoothly.

When your place is confirmed, you will receive an email informing you that you can pre-enrol online.

How to pre-enrol

To pre-enrol online, you will need your application number, which can be found on the covering letter in your enrolment pack or on any correspondence you have received from the University.

Sign in to the pre-enrolment area, as detailed in the email, and enter your application number and date of birth. Then simply follow the instructions for each section, entering and/or updating any personal information, such as addresses and emergency contact details. If any of the course/qualifications details are incorrect, contact your Admissions Office.

Paying your fees

If you are paying the full fee or part of it yourself, you can do this online during pre-enrolment - remember to print a receipt at the end of the process. Please note that the system uses 3D Secure, which is a security feature that ensures that payments using certain credit and debit cards are authenticated by the card holder with their bank at the time of the transaction. During the payment flow you will be prompted by your bank to enter a password. If you have not yet registered for 3D secure, you will need to do so before you can continue with your online payment. Some card providers limit the amount that can be paid online. You may need to speak with your card provider to clear the payment first and also to make sure you have sufficient cleared funds.

Paying by instalments

The option to pay fees by instalments is not available if you are a full-time undergraduate UK/EU student and you have the option of taking a tuition fee loan and deferring payment until after graduation. The option to pay by instalments is available for all other students with a personal fee liability of over £1,500. If you are paying in instalments, please remember to complete and sign the Instalment Agreement Form.

What you need to bring to your enrolment session

It is essential that you attend your enrolment session, as well as your orientation and welcome sessions, as this is where you will receive important information about your programme of study and the University. It's also a good chance to meet fellow students and academic staff before teaching begins. Enrolment and orientation timetables are made available via our Enrolment and orientation webpage.

At the end of your enrolment session, you'll be issued with a University of Westminster ID card, which gives you swipe card access to University buildings and is also your library card and Student Union Card. (Note that you do not need to bring a photograph to the enrolment session - a digital one will be taken on the day.)

At your enrolment session, you'll need to:

  • show us your enrolment form along with your proof of identity (see below)
  • pay your fees if appropriate
  • (if your qualifications have not been marked as VERIFIED or VERIFIED UCAS:) show us relevant certificates/exam results, which will be checked against your offer of a place on your chosen course

If you are an international student in the UK on a student visa, you'll need to bring:

  • the original visa and a photocopy for our records
  • your passport
  • original copies (not photocopies) of your certificates for courses/examinations which do not have a status of VERIFIED OR VERIFIED UCAS
  • if you are paying by instalments, a signed copy of the Instalment Agreement Form
  • if you are not paying your fees online, you will need to bring your payment (by cheque, cash, credit card or banker's draft) or evidence of approved sponsorship to your enrolment session. Evidence of sponsorship will be retained so please make sure you have a spare copy

Proof of identity

For your proof of identity, we can accept any one of the following:

  • a full, valid passport
  • EU Identity Card
