BA Fashion Buying Management

The BA Honours Fashion Buying Management Degree has been designed to directly meet the needs of the Fashion Retail Industry, and specifically the business of buying. It aims to deliver relevant and current course content blending academic theory, creative skills and industry knowledge with direct business experience.

You will undertake a continuous learning curve throughout this BA honours four year course, building thorough detailed retail industry product buying knowledge and skills. Emphasis is placed upon developing creative, technical and interpersonal skills, commercial flair and business acumen.

The course aims to produce graduates who have the knowledge and skills necessary for becoming an effective Buying Professional within the Fashion Retail Industry.

The business placement, in the third year, is considered a key integral part of the course, which provides essential practical experience, thus greatly increasing knowledge and understanding of the business environment. It is regarded as a critical factor in ensuring subsequent graduate career progression.

A Fashion Buyer is responsible for the profitable development, sourcing and selection of a range of products that meet the needs and desires of the target customer, by working closely with the merchandising, design and marketing teams. The course curriculum has been specifically designed to underpin and develop the key skills required for this challenging role. However it is also anticipated that some students may also wish to enter into the fields of trend forecasting, fashion marketing, manufacturing, retail or consultancy and the course of study complements these career aspirations also.
