Enhancing Induction: Principles for Improving the Student Experience

Date: 7 July 2010 9.30am - 7 July 2010 4.30pm

Induction is critical in the institutional engagement with students. It aims to provide orientation, study skills, satisfy pastoral needs, provide a rationale for learning, as well as initiating the relationship between student and university.
This symposium seeks to draw on evidence and practice from experts, researchers and practitioners in the field, while providing opportunities for the participants to contribute and participate in the debate. The aims
of this highly interactive event will be to help enhance understanding of the issues relating to induction, stimulate debate in this area, share good practice and policies and facilitate change in practice.
The symposium will be relevant to lecturers, staff developers, policy-makers and anyone involved in the induction process in higher education. Goldsmiths, University of London is hosting this symposium on Enhancing Induction as an outcome of our engagement with the HEA 2009 Enhancement Academy.
