Biography

Elayne is a Senior Lecturer in Business Information Management. She is Module Leader for a number of key modules in this area. Her research interests lie in the sociotechnical aspects of information systems, the contribution of stakeholders to the process of strategic planning for information systems, and in particular knowledge management. Her current research relates to knowledge sharing in sustainable science.

 

As a member of the BCS Sociotechnical Group she is active in promoting this view of information systems and has edited three books of international contributions in this field, 'The New SocioTech: Graffiti on the Long Wall' (2000); 'Knowledge Management in the Sociotechnical World: the Graffiti Continues' (2002); and Socio-Technical and Human Cognition Elements of Information Systems (2002). In addition, 'Knowledge Management: Challenges and Issues, was published in 2003.

Since then she has co-authored ' Beyond Knowledge Management' and an ' Encyclopedia of Communities of Practice in Information and Knowledge Management' is due in July 2005. Additionally, she has published numerous articles, conference papers and book chapters.
 
She also is an associate editor in Knowledge Management for OR Insight, is on the editorial board of the International Journal of Knowledge Management and has edited a special edition of JORS on Intellectual Capital and Knowledge Management. She won the best stream award at IRMA 2002 for her work in promoting the Knowledge Management stream at this conference. She is on the KMAC06 conference committee to be held at Aston in July 2006.
