Overview
If you’re interested in a financial or economic advisory role within international trade or with organisations such as the United Nations and the World Bank, then our MSc in International Business Economics could be for you.
This course not only explores international business economics, it helps you develop the analytical skills required to be able to assess the international economy. You’ll gain the knowledge, understanding and skills you need to influence and advise on strategy in a complex global business environment.
Over the past 20 years, organisations and international businesses have increased their use of the economic analysis of national and international pricing and trading regulations, resulting in an increase in global opportunities for economics postgraduates.
In addition to understanding core subjects, you’ll develop good transferable skills to help you build a career in international business economics. Most modules also include some element of group-working and problem-solving, where you’ll work on the kinds of tasks you’re likely to encounter in real-life situations.

You will develop in-depth understanding of the influence the state has on the operation of companies both nationally and internationally. You will be able to understand how various national and international pricing and trading regulations affect a company’s strategic policy.
You will also be able to statistically analyse various aspects of international business such as growth, merger and acquisition, and international capital movement.

How to apply
To apply for the MSc International Business Economics, you will need one of the following:
- A 2:1 undergraduate degree awarded by a UK university (or overseas equivalent) in economics, a joint degree where your major is in economics, or quantitative degree with a minor in economics; or
- A 2:2 undergraduate degree awarded by a UK university (or overseas equivalent) plus significant study of economics and quantitative methods; or
- A significant amount of relevant working experience and the ability to demonstrate that you are able to study effectively at Masters level.
If English is not your first language, you will need an overall IELTS score of at least 6.5 with a minimum 6.0 score in each component.

My past year at the University of Westminster has been stimulating, laying the strong foundation for a successful professional career. The teaching staff were a perfect balance of academic and industry professionals with the unique ability to be patient and understanding towards the students’ requirements.The class comprised students from diverse cultural, educational and professional backgrounds making the ambience enjoyable and informative. This was complimented by activities such as the student mentoring scheme and other events organised by the Westminster Enterprise Entity providing an opportunity to network with enterprising individuals from all walks of life.
The MSc in International Business Economics is an academically intense course, which provides individuals with the necessary skills to enter the rather competitive employment market. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and hope you will too!
