Interest and expertise
The research within the Software Interoperability Group (SIG) is interdisciplinary and ranges from software development and technologies in pervasive computing environments to the semantics of knowledge and information management across heterogeneous information sources. Our specific areas of interest are:
1) Interoperability in Software Systems: Heterogeneities, onotologies and semantic web; Service oriented computing; Security and access control; Interoperability standards and frameworks; COTS Components and Open Source Software and Systems.
2) Semantic Computing Environments: Making pervasive computing spaces semantically rich and interoperable, Situation aware software applications, Semantic dimensions of pervasive programmable spaces: from data, processes and technologies to interactions and communications which bring forward cultural, behavioural and cognitive issues in such environments. For more information please go to http://users.wmin.ac.uk/~juricr/
3) Pervasive Healthcare: Computational intelligence in healthcare; Ontologies, knowledge management, context awareness and reasoning; Patient configuration of healthcare services; Privacy, obtrusiveness and patient decision-making.
4) Software Systems in the NHS: NPfIT and Spine, Electronic patient records; Standards in healthcare and NHS; Data sharing in/for primary/secondary care, public health protection and NHS performance management; Ubiquitous computing for supporting health/well being of working people, elderly and disabled.
