The Mums and Daughters Project
Department of Psychology, University of Westminster
What is the project?
We are carrying out research into the mother-daughter relationship; specifically to find out about the experiences of being a parent; what are the things that make it enjoyable and its challenges too.So, we are asking Mum’s to participate in a face-to-face Skype interview with one of the team’s researchers – Jane, about their experiences of being a parent. For example the best and worse things about being a parent, and how confident mother’s feel in their role. Mum’s will also be asked to complete an on-line well-being questionnaire.
We are also asking daughter’s aged 11 -16, to complete a series of short, simple online questionnaires. These are questions about about well-being, emotions and relationships and do not take longer than 15 minutes to complete.
Both interviews and questionnaires are secure, confidential and have been passed by the University ethics committee.
Mum’s will be entered to win a £100, or £50 shopping voucher and teens will receive a £5 shopping voucher for taking part.
Who are we?
We are a team of researchers based in the Department of Psychology, at the University of Westminster. The main focus of our work involves investigating the pathways that link ‘mind and body’ and how these impact on our health and well-being. In particular we are interested in personal and family relationships and stress, and their effects on well-being.
