Tarik Sabry is Senior Lecturer in Media and Communication, former Editor of Westminster Papers in Communication and Culture and Associate Editor of Interactions: Studies in Communications & Culture (Intellect, forthcoming, 2009)
His research interests include globalization, migration, media audiences, popular culture and Arab cultural studies.
His publications have appeared in journals such as The European Journal of Cultural Studies, Transnational Broadcasting Studies, the Journal of Global Media and Communication and The Journal of Middle Eastern Studies.
He has recently published 'Cultural Encounters in the Arab World, On media, The Modern and the Everyday' (2010, IB. Tauris), and 'Arab Cultural Studies, Mapping the Field' (Editor) (March 2011 IB. Tauris).
He is also co-editor of a new journal Middle East Journal of Culture and Communication launched in July 2008. The Journal provides a transcultural academic sphere that engages Middle Eastern and Western scholars in a critical dialogue about culture,communication and politics in the Middle East. It also provides a forum for debate on the regions encounters with modernity and the ways in which this is reshaping peoples everyday experiences.
