Audiences and Identities Research Group

Identity by Sebastian MayThe Audiences and Identities Research Group stretches across both CREAM and CAMRI, and brings together staff and research students interested in the study of as well as the concepts of identities and audiences.

This wilfully interdisciplinary group explores shared concerns, as well as ways in which the methods of one tradition (such as art and design) can be used to develop the practice of another (such as social science) and vice versa.

We have been awarded research grants from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), including 188,365 for the study Young peoples creative understanding of their mediaworlds, which runs from September 2008 to August 2010, and 74,243 for the research project Audience and producer engagement with immersive worlds, a collaboration with the BBC which runs from July 2007 to June 2008.

We were proud to host the international conference, Transforming Audiences: Identity / Creativity / Everyday Life, in association with the ECREA and the ICA, on 6-7 September 2007.

We also hold seminars, symposia and workshops.
