About the University of Westminster Verification Service (UoWV)

The UoWV Service provides access to your award documents - true e-copies of your certificate and transcript. It also provides formal verification of your award and period of registration at the University via an e-generated letter. You can view your e-documents and share any or all your academic documents with a third party (eg a prospective employer). You choose what to share, who to send a link to and how long they have to connect and view. Third parties will be charged a connection fee.

Your e-certificate and e-transcript can be verified via a QR code visible on the e-document.

Graduates from 2022 onwards can securely access their award documents via the UoWV Service.

You can access your digital documents for free once they have been published. You can share these with a third party, and the third party will be charged a connection fee.

If you require replacement hard copy documents, you’ll need to order these through our UoWV Service portal for a fee.

If you graduated before 2022, your award documents are not currently available to access through the University of Westminster Verification Service (UoWV). Please go to our Transcript and certificate requests page for details on how to get copies of your award documents.

User account set up for the UoWV Service

You can use any active email that you have and use. The email address will be integral to being able to reset your password, if you forget it after a period of inactivity. Try to use an email you are likely to maintain for a long period. If you change your email address, please update your account with your new email before closing your old email, so you can maintain access to your academic documents and connections.

You’ll need the following information to complete the registration process:

  • First name
  • Surname. Both as recorded on the Student Record System (My Student Record) during your time of study
  • Your student ID number in full. This is your full eight digits ID number, without the W at the front
  • Date of birth

If you cannot provide all this information, this will delay access to the system as we’ll need to check and approve your registration. Enter the details that you recall and we'll be notified to run a check on the data. We may have to contact you for further information to ensure that we are granting access to the correct person.

Please check your email spam and/or junk folders as your email provider may not have recognised the sender as a safe sender and re-directed it from your inbox.

If after checking your spam and junk folders you still have not received your confirmation email, please contact the Library and Student Centre. You'll be asked to provide your name, date of birth and student ID number.

During the registration process your information is matched with the information held by the University for you. If any part of the information provided does not match the data set perfectly, your account registration will be checked and approved by the University. This could take up to three working days at busy times. Once the account has been checked your account will be released and you’ll be able to log in. You’ll need your email address used and the password you created to log in.

If you're still unable to gain access three working days after initially registering, please contact the Library and Student Centre. You'll be asked to provide your name, date of birth and student ID number.  registering.

The University has used a full stop in our student records system in place of a name. At present we require at least one character in the names fields for the record to work and link appropriately in the chronicling of your academic progress and results. To complete the registration for the portal please put a full stop ‘.’ in the blank name field and this will let you complete your registration.

Ordering hardcopy items from the UoWV Service portal

No. If you have just graduated, you’ll receive your initial hard copy certificate and transcript free of charge, within eight weeks of the results publication date. Do not order documents via the portal if you are waiting for the initial copy of your certificate and transcript to arrive in the post. This will invalidate the initial hardcopy items printed and on route to you. There is a charge for replacement or additional copies. All charges may be subject to review.

Yes. Students who graduated from 2022 onwards should order their required award documents from the UoWV Service portal.

If you graduated before 2022, your award documents are not currently available to access through the University of Westminster Verification Service (UoWV).

You can order:

  • Your degree certificate if your initial copy has been lost or destroyed. Only one can be issued, any previous versions will be invalidated by an additional print.
  • An academic transcript of the modules and marks passed – you can order as many as you need.
  • Verification letter – a letter confirming your award and the years enrolled at the University. You can order as many as you need.

Third party access

Yes. You can create a connection on the portal with third parties (eg prospective employers, universities) giving permission for them to log in and view your qualification to verify its authenticity. 

You’ll be asked how long you wish to allow access for and which items to share. The third party will be charged a connection fee to view one or all your documents. After this date, third parties will no longer be able to access your information. We recommend setting up a connection for a month or less. You’ll be able to remove the connection at any time.

Third parties can register for our UoWV Service portal. Once registered you can request to create a ‘Connection’ with a portal user. If the user approves your request, you'll be able to view their documents for a connection fee, for a limited time.

Alternatively, you can request that a user invites you to create a connection with them. You'll only be able to see the documents that the user has given permission to share with you and documents are only valid when viewed in the portal.

General FAQs

The UoWV Service portal allows you to access and view your e-certificate and you can also share it with a third party.

You cannot download and print a copy of the e-certificate. The screen version printed would be unverified and would not pass the verification process. The QR code can be used to confirm the validity of the e-copy on screen and any hardcopy prints that the University has issued to you. The QR code will match the details on the certificate to the details in our records system.

Yes, all students who complete an award with the University of Westminster receive a hard copy of their certificate and transcript in their graduating year. These documents will usually be posted to the home address listed on your student record. You should receive these within 4–8 weeks, or 8-12 weeks depending on the destination, from the final publication of results.

Some browsers do not render the certificates as well as others. Your certificate may not display correctly in Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer. We would recommend using Chrome or Firefox. If your certificate still does not look like the example shown on the UoWV Service portal, then use the ‘Report’ function (yellow button) in the view documents section of the portal and describe the problem. This will send a message to the admin team and it can be checked for you.

No. Updating your contact details in the portal will not update the core University contact details for you.

Yes. If you completed your studies within 2022 you'll be able to access your digital transcript. We are in the process of transferring earlier records.

This service is not available to those who completed a short course at the University. Please contact who will assist with your query.
