Frequently asked questions
How will I know when and where to take my exam?
Once we have received your application and payment, we will send you a Statement of Registration to confirm your registration. You will receive an Attendance Timetable telling you the time and place of each of your exams after registrations close for your chosen exam date.
What should I do if I notice an error on my Statement of Entry or Attendance Timetable?
If you notice any error with your name, date of birth or address on any of the documents we send you, please contact us as soon as possible.
Can I choose which day to take the speaking test? When is the speaking test?
No. The timetables for each module are not flexible. The speaking test will not be on the same day as your main examination. It may be scheduled before or after your main examination date. Please check the date of your speaking test before registrations close. Contact us if you have any problems with dates.
Do I need to complete a course to take an exam?
No. Although many candidates do complete an ESOL course before taking the exam, it is not a requirement. If you are interested in studying English at the University of Westminster, please browse our English as a Foreign Language courses.
Are there any materials I can use to study for ESOL exams?

You can only cancel your test before the closing date for registration. After the closing date, tests cannot be cancelled and no refunds can be made.
What happens if I am unable to take the test or miss the test?
If you are unable to take your exam because of illness or serious circumstances, please contact us as soon as possible.
How long does it take to receive my results?
All candidates will receive their Statement of Results five to seven weeks after sitting the exam. These are available online from the Cambridge candidate support website. Details of this website, as well as the ID number and password needed for you to access your results, are emailed to you with your Attendance Timetable. Certificates are issued within three months of sitting the exam.
