Funding opportunities
Related information
There are many ways in which you can access funding to help you collaborate with the University, whether you are a small or medium-sized business (SME) or a large multinational, whether you want to take part in a short Knowledge Transfer Partnership or a longer-term EC-funded project. Various organisations at regional, national and European level provide funding to encourage you to work with us to develop new products, processes and services and to stay ahead of the competition.
Regional funding
- London Innovation Placement Programme
Funded by the London Development Agency, the London Innovation Placement Programme provides talented students, graduates and postgraduates to work on innovative projects in small to medium sized businesses, social enterprises and charities across London. - Knowledge Connect
Funded by the London Development Agency, Knowledge Connect offers businesses innovation vouchers of 3,000 and 10,000 which you can use to purchase academic expertise to help you move your business to the next level.
National funding
- Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
A government-funded partnership between an organisation, the university and a graduate. You will benefit from having a highly qualified recent graduate working in your organisation for between 1 and 3 years to work on a project of strategic importance to your business. - Knowledge Catalyst
A scheme similar to the Knowledge Transfer Partnership scheme, but shorter and focussed on the Arts & Humanities and creative industries. - Shell STEP
A national government-supported scheme designed to help companies develop their potential by using the skills of undergraduates at an affordable cost.
European Funding
-
Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Development
This is the European Union's chief instrument for funding research over the period 2007 to 2013. Participants can include universities, small and medium sized enterprises and multinational companies.
Many companies are unaware that they may be eligible for R&D tax credits if they undertake R&D. For example, companies who undertake a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with the University of Westminster can claim tax credits as a result of this collaboration. For more information, click here.
