What is KTP?

A Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) provides you with the manpower, expertise and up to 60 per cent of the funding to carry out a project which is of strategic importance to your business.

A KTP involves the following partners:

  • Your organisation – typically a small to medium-sized enterprise
  • The University of Westminster – one of the UK’s leading proponents of KTPs
  • The KTP Unit – experienced facilitators and managers of the entire KTP project from idea creation to completion
  • Academics – who provide academic expertise related to your project area
  • A KTP Associate – a recently qualified graduate or postgraduate dedicated to work in-house on your KTP project

All these partners have something to gain from the KTP approach. For you, it could be the introduction of new technology, knowledge or skills which will stimulate product/ service development and growth. For the University of Westminster, it is the opportunity to enhance the research, training and transfer of knowledge into real world applications. And for the KTP Associate, it is a chance to apply their knowledge on a dedicated project and acquire business experience.

The results

"The person who came to join us as a KTP Associate had a background in statistics, which is exactly what we were looking for. The Partnership certainly allowed us to expand globally."
