Gunter has a degree in Microbiology and PhD in Microbial Genetics. Gunter has taught and researched in his subject area for over 20 years focusing on the Genetics of Industrial Microorganisms and gaining research funding of over £500,000 from 1985-1995. Gunter has published regularly both on his research in his subject specialism and on aspects of learning and teaching. Gunter's teaching has always been focused on the student and has consistently exploited technology to improve interaction and the student experience.


Within Westminster Exchange Gunter leads the Technology Enhanced Learning team. This team is focused on providing proactive peer support to academic colleagues in their efforts to exploit the many potentials of technology in learning and teaching.
