Dr Shuliang Li is a Reader in Business Information Management at Westminster Business School, University of Westminster. He acted as BIM&O departmental Research Leader from January 2010 to July 2013.

Dr Li is also Sichuan 100-Talent Scheme Visiting Professor in China for research collaboration purposes. He is a life Fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS).

Dr Shuliang Li teaches Web Analytics, Business Intelligence and other modules. He also supervises PhD/doctoral research students.

Dr Shuliang Li 's main research interests cover decision support systems, hybrid intelligent business systems, Web-based intelligent business systems and knowledge automation, Internet- enabled multi-agent-based intelligent decision support systems, business intelligence, Web analytics, e-commerce systems evaluation, systems modelling and computer simulation, Web dynamics, and social media dynamics.

He has created and developed various intelligent decision support software systems, and published a number of research papers on peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. His publications have appeared in the following international refereed journals: Decision Support Systems (the international journal), European Journal of Marketing, Expert Systems with Applications (an international journal), Intelligent Systems in Accounting, Finance and Management (international journal), Marketing Intelligence and Planning, Industrial Management & Data Systems, and International Journal of Management and Decision Making.

His papers have also appeared in various conference proceedings published by IEEE. His journal articles and conference papers have been cited and used widely by professors and researchers in USA, Finland, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Greece, Spain, Turkey, South Africa, Taiwan, mainland China and many other countries. The world renowned decision support systems field teaching textbook, Decision Support Systems and Intelligent Systems (Seventh editions, Prentice Hall International, 2005), has included two pages of Shuliang’s research paper.

According to Google Scholar and Science Citation Index (SCI), Shuliang’s research papers have been cited in more than 450 journal articles, reputable conference proceedings and books across the world. With established international research excellence for many years, Shuliang has submitted for the UK Research Assessment Exercises (RAE) 2001 and 2008, and the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014.

He is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Modelling in Management, and associate editor and reviewer for the International Journal of Marketing Studies. He also acted as a reviewer/referee for the Journal of the Operational Research Society, European Journal of Operational Research, IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, the Journal of Simulation Modelling Practice and Theory, Asia Pacific Journal of Marketing and Logistics, and Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing. In addition, he served as an Application Stream Programme Committee member and reviewer for British Computer Society SGAI AI2004, AI2005, AI2006, AI2007, AI2008, AI2009, AI2010, AI2011 and AI2012, and a reviewer for several other international conferences and book publishers. He also served as one of the two technical chairs for ICMTMA2015 conference. Moreover, he was invited to review research proposals for ESRC (2007, 2012) and EPSRC (2011).

From 1994 to 1997, He was a fund-holder and Principal Investigator of a production/manufacturing systems simulation and decision support project which was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Grant No: 79470072). His research has also been supported by QR (Quality Related) funding and industrial research gift. Furthermore, he has been officially granted the 100-Talent Scheme research award by Sichuan provincial government, China, for undertaking cutting-edge research. Shuliang was awarded Fellowship status in January 2010 by the British Computer Society.
