Data protection

Access to personal information

Data Protection legislation protects the rights of individuals when we process their data.

Data includes email, voicemail, web pages (intranet and internet), all correspondence, forms and other records.

The Data Protection Act seeks to give the individual a degree of control over the information that is generated about them. The main difference between the 1984 Act and the current (1998) Act is that we as individuals are wholly responsible for acting within the law in keeping records about other people.

Data protection requests

All data protection enquiries must be sent to the email address below:
dpa@westminster.ac.uk

On receipt of a request the Records Manager will issue a copy of the Subject Access Request form that must be completed and returned before work on the request can commence. Please state clearly the information that you are seeking.
