Biography
Frank Auton is Course Leader for MA Marketing Management and Module Leader for the postgraduate module Buyer Behaviour and the undergraduate module Consumer Behaviour for Marketing.
Frank graduated with a Business Degree from City of London Guildhall University in 1974 and held increasingly senior marketing and general management roles with Ross Foods, Lyons Tetley and SmithKline Beecham. At SB he become Managing Director and Vice President for European Nutritional Healthcare, responsible for many famous brands including award winning Lucozade, Ribena, Horlicks, Bovril, Marmite and Ambrosia.
He was then promoted to Regional Vice President of the European Division of SB Pharmaceuticals, responsible for 13 European markets during a period of unprecedented change in the pharmaceutical industry. Leaving SB in 1999 ahead of the planned merger with Glaxo, he established a management consultancy practice Autonomy Consulting and also became Chairman of The Marketing Council.
In November 2000 he joined the Board of Nelsons as General Manager International and Global Marketing Director.
In 2002 he returned to managing his consultancy business as part of a portfolio career including Senior Lecturer in Marketing at University of Westminster Business School and community executive roles.
Frank lives in Buckinghamshire with his wife Heather. He is a Fellow of The Marketing Society, a Freeman of the City of London, a keen skier and motorcyclist and enjoys all of the arts.
