Green impact

Green Impact is a programme to encourage, reward and celebrate the contributions of University of Westminster staff to improving our environmental performance. From helping boost local bee populations to identifying energy-guzzling laboratory fridges, staff across the University are making a difference.

How it works

University of Westminster staff receive a Green Impact book with different levels of criteria to complete. Each criterion is a clear and easy to implement action. Bronze criteria are essential to complete, while levels silver, gold and bonus are optional.

The programme begins in September each year and finishes with an awards ceremony in April.

Green Impact is one of three projects in nationwide environmental programme Degrees Cooler. The other two projects are Going Greener and Student Switch Off. In addition to Green Impact, the University of Westminster is participating in Going Greener (a student-led environmental initiative).

Green Impact awards ceremony

More than 1,500 individuals from 25 departments and schools have participated in the Green Impact programme. Examples of success include introducing a scheme to compost food scraps and a mobile phone recycling campaign which raised money for global charity Water Aid.
